Kava Kava

Kava Kava

Kava Kava, a psychoactive herb that has been used ceremonially for thousands of years by Pacific Islanders, induces a state of relaxation and tranquillity. It is derived from the rhizome of the pepper plant, Piper methysticum, which is found in Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia.

This versatile herb contains kava lactones, compounds which have been shown to alleviate anxiety, relieve back pain and tension headaches, relax muscles, promote sound sleep, and prevent convulsions. Hawaiian folk healers also use it as a treatment for asthma.

Unlike many popular prescription drugs, Kava neither impairs mental function nor causes sedation, and it has a low incidence of adverse reactions when used as directed. It should not be used by pregnant or lactating women.
